At the end of February this year, news appeared that the DBR conducted a search in the office of the head of the Main Directorate of the National Police of the Volyn region, Yuriy Kroshko.
According to unofficial information, many violations were documented there regarding the trade in humanitarian aid for the military. It would seem that Yuri Kroshko, at a minimum, should have been suspended from service at the time of the investigation of the case. But he receives the position of adviser to the chairman of the National Police of Ukraine.
The head of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Volyn region, Colonel Yuriy Kroshka, was dismissed from his post. Now he is an assistant to the chairman of the department for coordinating police development projects of the Department for Supporting the Activities of the Chairman of the National Police of Ukraine.
Information about the dismissal of Yuriy Kroshko of the Center for Investigative Journalism “Power of Truth” was confirmed by the Communications Department of the National Police of Ukraine.
Currently, the duties of the head of the Volyn police are performed by the deputy head of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Volyn region - the head of the criminal police, Mikhail Soroka.
“I confirm that Yuriy Kroshko was transferred to the position of assistant to the chairman of the department for coordinating police development projects of the Department for supporting the activities of the chairman of the NPU, and that the duties of the head of the GUNP in the Volyn region are performed by Mikhail Soroka,” commented the representative of the National Police Elena Berezhnaya.
At the same time, Elena Berezhnaya did not name the reasons for this decision. But they write on social networks that this happened because Yuri Kroshko is the godfather of the Minister of Internal Affairs Igor Klimenko.
Let us recall that on February 23, 2024, information appeared on social networks about searches by the State Bureau of Investigation in the office of the Chief of the National Police in the Volyn region, Yuriy Kroshko. The next day, telegram channels published photos from the searches, judging by which investigative actions were carried out not only at the workplace of the chief police officer of Volyn, but also in his house in the Zhytomyr region. It was also said that Kroshka was detained and suspected of abuse of official position, which led to grave consequences (Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). However, on the same day, Volyn police representative Olga Buzuluk said that the information about the arrest was not true. Prior to this, he continued to serve as head of the regional police.
The DBI conducted searches on February 23 in the office of the head of the Main Directorate for Police of the Volyn Region, Yuriy Kroshko.
The State Bureau of Investigation is still investigating the criminal proceedings in which Yuri Kroshko appears. Neither the police nor the DBI comment on the case and do not disclose any details.
