In Chernigov, the head of the military medical commission was exposed for taking a bribe; he wrote off draft dodgers from the military register.

According to the investigation, for a monetary reward, the head of the Chernigov VLK helped conscripts evade military service.
The defendant was a participant in a criminal scheme organized by the former chairman of the regional military medical commission of the Chernihiv region and which the SBU documented in February of this year
An accomplice of the bribery scheme was also detained; she turned out to be an official of the medical commission of the Chernigov military registration and enlistment office.
“The defendants organized the issuance of false medical reports in which they prescribed severe “diagnoses” for conscripts. Then these documents were sent to the military registration and enlistment office with the mark: unfit for service due to “poor” health,” the SBU noted.
Investigators also found that thanks to such fraud, draft dodgers had the opportunity to go abroad. The criminal group received $5 thousand for each decommissioned man.
Based on the collected evidence, both persons involved were informed of suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
The actions of the head of the VLK are additionally qualified under Part 3 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (acceptance of an offer, promise or obtaining unlawful benefits by an official).
He is now in custody.
