On April 17, it became known that in Lvov, the deputy director of the Georgy Karpenko Institute of Physics and Mechanics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine was detained for taking a bribe, who, according to law enforcement officers, promised assistance in winning the auction for renting premises for $2,000.
This was reported by the press service of the Lviv Region Police on Facebook .
Thus, the deputy director of the Georgy Karpenko Institute of Physics and Mechanics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine was exposed for receiving a bribe in the amount of 31.5 thousand UAH. The very fact of the arrest occurred on April 16.
“It was established that the deputy director of one of the Lviv research institutes demanded and received an unlawful benefit from an entrepreneur in the amount of 31.5 thousand hryvnia for the provision for use of a warehouse with an area of 371 square meters located in the institute building, before the execution of the lease agreement,” - the police report said.
According to the police, the deputy director of the Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine promised assistance in winning the auction for renting premises for a reward of 2 thousand dollars. At the same time, he demanded 31.5 thousand UAH from the entrepreneur for the use of the premises two months before the conclusion of the lease agreements. Upon receiving the last amount on April 16, he was detained by law enforcement officers.

Finally, the investigators informed the detainee of suspicion of committing a criminal offense under Part 3 of Article 368 (Acceptance of an offer, promise or receipt of unlawful benefit by an official) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment - imprisonment for a period of five to ten years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of up to three years, with confiscation of property.
