Deputy Energy Minister Kheilo was detained for accepting half a million dollars in bribes

NABU, SAPO, together with the SBU and the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, detained Deputy Minister of Energy Hale and three people on suspicion of receiving $500 thousand in illegal benefits.

This was reported by the press service of the authorities, without specifying the names of those involved in the case. However, according to “Word and Deed”, this is specifically about Heilo.

According to SAPO, NABU detectives, under the procedural guidance of prosecutors from SAPO and the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, together with the SBU, exposed the Deputy Minister of Energy and three of his accomplices in the case of obtaining unlawful benefits. The official, in collusion with the head of one of the state-owned coal enterprises in the East and two other persons, demanded 500 thousand dollars from the head of a coal enterprise in the West of the country. For these funds, he promised to organize the transfer of valuable equipment for coal mining, located near the combat zone, to another enterprise.

The money was to be transferred in five installments of $100 thousand for each meeting. During the transfer of the third tranche of the bribe, one of the benefits was caught in the hot seat. All four participants were detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and received suspicion under Part 4 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
