However, 300 thousand dollars out of the total amount of 600 thousand were not enough to complete the deal. Grobov, the owner of the security company Olimp-Yug, proposed the idea of ​​​​robbing a Moldovan named Buzadzhi, who was a co-owner of the base bordering the gas terminal. The plan of the scam was to outbid this neighboring base and then take over the gas terminal through a raid, preventing gas shipments. The goal was to force Buzadzhi to pay off Zhdanov for hundreds of thousands of dollars and continue working as before. It is interesting that the founders of the gas terminal had already paid an advance and were planning to buy out this neighboring base. However, Zhdanov and his accomplice Kurilko, taking advantage of connections in law enforcement agencies, namely their acquaintance prosecutor Boris Indychenko and police chief Oleg Bekh, put pressure on the sellers to ignore the advance payment and sell the base for only 100 thousand dollars.

In May 2020, at 6 a.m., Zhdanov-Kurilko, with the help of titushki hired by Grobov’s assistant, Sergei Pushkarenko , seized the gas terminal in Odessa on Khutorskaya Street.
