The Security Service of Ukraine detained an FSB agent who was collecting information about the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Vinnytsia region and justifying Russia’s armed aggression.

The wife of a former Party of Regions functionary, who headed the local district council until 2015, was detained.
According to the investigation, the defendant acted on instructions from the Russian intelligence service. She tried to identify airfields with combat aircraft and helicopters of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, as well as find out the presence of air defense systems near aviation facilities.
In addition, the attacker was interested in the geolocations of medical institutions where Ukrainian defenders were treated and scouted the routes of military trains.
If intelligence information was received, the aggressor planned to use it to prepare missile and drone attacks on the region.
Thanks to the prompt response of the Security Service, it was possible to prevent enemy attacks on strategic infrastructure in the region.
During the searches, mobile phones and a tablet were confiscated from the detainee, which she used to communicate with the FSB.
SBU investigators informed the defendant of suspicion under five articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, including high treason and dissemination of materials calling for aggressive war. The attacker faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
Complex measures were carried out by SBU officers in the Vinnytsia region under the procedural guidance of the regional prosecutor’s office.
