Zhytomyr “masiks” and their rich halves: how the wives of officials fatten during the war

In recent declarations of the leaders of Zhytomyr and the region, journalists noticed an interesting detail, namely, the wealth and income of their spouses. Having studied their data, it turned out that the wives of high-ranking officials did not suffer during the war.

For example, the wife of the head of the Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration owns a whole collection of apartments in Lviv, as well as a stylish car.

Svetlana Sukhomlin, the wife of the mayor of Zhitomir Sergei Sukhomlin, does not remain in the shadow of her husband, having her own impressive property and income.

She acquired three plots of land in the Novoguyvinsk territorial community back in 2006. Each of them has an area of 1200 square meters.

In addition, in 2021 Svetlana inherited a spacious apartment in Zhitomir, and in 2022 she became the owner of a stylish 2021 PEUGEOT 3008 HDi150 car, valued at 1,285,000 hryvnia.

But her wealth is not limited to real estate. Svetlana is involved in the activities of several companies and owns shares in four companies. For example, 40% of VISAGE LLC and 60% of KON BRIO LLC, which together are valued at millions of hryvnia.

In her role at KON BRIO LLC, she received a salary of 190,240 hryvnia, and her entrepreneurial activities brought her 1,704,000 hryvnia. In addition, she received government assistance and other income.

At the end of 2023, she had accumulated 670,000 hryvnia and $25,000.

Natalya Shirma, the wife of the acting head of the Zhytomyr Regional Council, also received “heavy” income in 2023. Since 2008, she has owned an apartment with an area of 65.9 square meters and a plot of land with an area of 45 square meters, having purchased it in 2021.

In addition, Natalya has an unfinished garage and a 2021 Toyota Yaris Hybrid, the cost of which at the time of purchase was 683,692 hryvnia.

As for its 2023 earnings, they include:

  • Salary in the amount of 223,787 hryvnia.
