Argentina rejects the possibility of joining BRICS

Argentine President Javier Miley officially informed the leaders of Brazil, China, Russia, South Africa and India that Argentina refuses to join the BRICS bloc.

“I would like to inform you that at this stage, the inclusion of the Argentine Republic in BRICS as a full member from January 1, 2024 is not considered appropriate,” the letter says.

Among the reasons for the refusal are the trade war that the bloc is waging with the United States, as well as support, to a greater or lesser extent, for Hamas, which is waging a brutal war against Israel.

Miley noted that he has a different view of the international situation and rejects the ideology of China and its foreign policy.

“I’m not going to insist on a deal with the communists,” the politician answered a question about BRICS.

At the BRICS summit in the summer, six countries - Argentina, Egypt, Iran, Ethiopia, Saudi Arabia and the UAE - were invited to join the bloc.
