The Dnieper gang of scammers robbed volunteers and military personnel, causing them damage in the amount of 1.2 million hryvnia

Fraudsters posted ads on various Internet platforms for the sale of cars. Buyers made an advance payment - and communication with sellers disappeared. The perpetrators face a penalty of up to five years in prison, Censor , citing the National Police of Ukraine.

As noted, the attackers posted advertisements on various Internet platforms for the sale of cars imported into Ukraine from abroad at an “attractive price.” This cost included the service of further customs clearance and registration of the car immediately in the name of the buyer.

If agreement was reached, citizens were asked to send from 300 to 1000 dollars to their card account. After this, buyers were sent a video about the condition of the car and photos of fake documents.

“As soon as the group members received the remaining amounts, they blocked the victims and changed their phone numbers. Consequently, citizens lost their own money and did not receive cars that were supposed to be given to the military to carry out combat missions,” the National Police reported.

Law enforcement officers seized cars, weapons, almost four dozen bank cards, mobile phones and SIM cards, computer equipment, etc. from the scammers. The value of the seized items is about 800 thousand UAH.

Fraud committed under martial law, which caused significant damage to the victim, is punishable by imprisonment for up to five years.
