Kyiv utilities increased prices for rental equipment by UAH 24 million during the construction of the Podolsky Bridge

The costs of renting equipment during the construction of the Podolsky Bridge were inflated by UAH 24 million - the acting director of the enterprise is being tried

The district prosecutor's office of the Podolsk district of Kyiv decided to submit to the court the incriminating material against the temporary executive director of the Municipal Enterprise “Directorate for the Construction of Road Transport Facilities in Kyiv.”

This was reported by the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.

The director is accused of official negligence during the construction of the Podolsko-Voskresensky bridge. Based on the results of the investigation, it was established that the utility company responsible for the construction of roads and transport structures entered into agreements with the general contractor for the construction of the bridge. In June 2023, the KP “Directorate for the Construction of Road Transport Facilities in Kyiv”, the general contractor and the contractor signed work completion certificates.

The acts concerned the rental of machines and mechanisms that were used in the construction of the Podolsko-Voskresensky Bridge, such as diesel compressors, truck cranes, mud pumps, pile installations, etc. However, later a construction and technical examination showed that the costs of renting equipment were inflated, and the overpayment amounted to 24 million hryvnia.

The indictment against the interim executive director of the Communist Party has been sent to the court for consideration on the merits. He is accused under Part 2 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - official negligence. According to this status, he faces a penalty of imprisonment for up to 5 years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to 3 years, with a significant fine. The investigation into the general contractor and contractors continues.

As previously reported, as a result of an investigation by the National Police of Ukraine, financial crimes were discovered in the field of highway operation in Kyiv. During 2022-2023, according to the Department of Strategic Investigations and the city police, it was established that the utility corporation and contractors entered into fictitious contracts for road repairs totaling more than UAH 185 million.
