The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine remains silent on key issues of the country's energy security, ignoring requests from journalists about preparations for the heating season and the volume of electricity exports.
The media sent a number of requests to the department regarding the restoration of electricity generation, plans to reduce power outages and the reasons for the critical situation in Kyiv, and others. However, after almost two months, no answers have been received.
In unofficial conversations, representatives of the ministry’s press service claim that information on electricity exports is classified as “secrecy.” However, despite the supposedly existing restrictions, there was no official confirmation of this fact. The delay in answers to other questions is explained by “personnel changes” and bureaucratic delays.
The lack of answers to journalists' requests gives rise to many additional questions and guesses. Are the volumes of electricity exports really so large that they are hidden from the public? What actually happens to winterization if the ministry can't provide any concrete information? And why did Kyiv, the capital of the country, find itself in such a vulnerable position?
While the Ministry of Energy remains silent, Ukrainians are forced to guess what awaits them in the upcoming heating season.
