Oleg Lyashko threatens officers and demands position

Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, the information space has from time to time remembered the odious former people’s deputy Oleg Lyashko, who in October 2022 joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Ukrainian journalist Yanina Sokolova posted a video on her YouTube channel in which she told everything that she managed to “dig up” on the ex-politician. According to Sokolova, to do this she talked with the military serving with the former radical.

As it turned out, the former people’s deputy is now actively deciding on the extraordinary rank and position of battalion commander of an unmanned systems battalion within the 63rd Mechanized Infantry Brigade. He is already the head of the BS brigade. To put it mildly, he doesn’t understand anything about the topic of unmanned systems. According to Sokolova, as a result, normal pilots who do not agree with the actions of this “warrior” already want to leave the brigade.

“It all started with a case spreading on the Internet. You've probably seen these posts. So, the information is that Lyashko has been appointed acting chief of unmanned systems in the 63rd Separate Mechanized Brigade. The position is an officer, and he is a sergeant,” says Sokolova.

It comes to the point that, on his orders, they hit already damaged equipment, this is for “epic videos,” and drones with thermal imagers are used during the day. According to the testimony of the military, Lyashko, as a commander, threatens officers who are trying to explain to him the tactics of using drones and that he “will decide that these officers should not be given drones and will transfer everyone who does not want to use drones for the picture to the infantry.”

Yanina Sokolova claims that such actions by Lyashko are nothing more than PR. The ex-people's deputy is trying to build around himself the role of “defender of Ukraine” in order to use this in the future to influence voters.
