Extortions under cover: what is happening in the State Consumer Service of the Poltava region and who is Yanina Aranchiy

For three years now, despite permanent scandals, the position of head of the State Consumer Service in the Poltava region has been retained by Yanina Aranchiy. About who is covering for this official and why, although local businesses are constantly demanding her dismissal

For more than three years now, scandals have been going on in the Poltava region around Yanina Aranchiy, one of the most odious top officials in the region. It is significant that back in February 2021, the media drew attention to the illegality of her appointment, emphasizing her closeness to the then chairman of the State Consumer Service of Ukraine, Vladislava Magaletskaya.

It is worth noting that Yanina Sergeevna did not come out of nowhere. Her late father Sergei Aranchiy was the chief veterinary inspector of the Poltava region, who managed to give his daughter 2.75 million hryvnia before his death, and her mother, Valentina Aranchiy, held the position of rector of the Poltava State Agrarian University for many years, and now holds a more inconspicuous (but no less important) position the first vice-rector of this university. However, this did not save her from scandals: it turned out that in 2023, a pensioner with a vice-rector’s salary spent almost 15.3 million hryvnia on real estate in Poland - two apartments with an area of almost 40 square meters and one apartment with an area of 36.1 square meters. At the same time, Valentina Aranchy deposited about 13 thousand zlotys into an account in the Polish Alior Bank.

The daughter also periodically appears in various investigations. The previous chairman of the Poltava Regional State Administration, Dmitry Lunin, publicly, at a staff meeting, criticized the State Food and Consumer Service of the Poltava region. According to the then head of the region, government bodies of the region are inundated with complaints about unlawful actions and extortions by representatives of this regulatory body. As a result of inspections, numerous violations were recorded in the State Consumer Service, including extortion schemes.

However, Lunin was removed, and with the new head of the Poltava Regional State Administration, Philip Pronin, Yanina Aranchiy, who is also a deputy of the Poltava Regional Council from the Doverie party, lives in perfect harmony. Or maybe a wallet within a wallet. As sources of our publication told us, in behind-the-scenes conversations Mrs. Aranchy repeatedly said that the current head of the regional administration supports her.

And this despite a completely failed job. In particular, in UTCs, where the relevant commissions should work. It is worth noting that in the first year after taking up her position, Aranchiy fired more than a hundred people - professional and qualified workers.

The media wrote that at the same time she surrounded herself with dubious persons and, in particular, people from internal affairs bodies who had never been involved in activities in the field of sanitary-epidemiological legislation and in the field of occupational health.

In 2021, an audio recording of Yanina Aranchiy’s speech to employees of the State Food and Consumer Service of the Poltava Region appeared on the Internet, during which she directly stated the following: “We are cooler than the prosecutor’s office and the SBU - we can take out any object! And we are the poorest!”

Continuing his monologue, Aranchiy gives his employees a detailed transcript of his not-so-subtle hint: “Business can say “thank you” to each of you, and it doesn’t matter what format it will be in: money, candy, but he himself will say “thank you” if you you will treat him loyally…” (listen to audio – 3 minutes 58 seconds and 21 minutes 45 seconds).

Actually, the issue of poverty clearly worries “major” Aranchia. In this regard, local businessmen directly say that her main desire is to impose “tribute” on all enterprises as much as possible. Money, candy. Or any other big “thank you.”

Questions arise for the current chairman of the State Consumer Service of Ukraine, Sergei Tkachuk, who was appointed in January of this year and who left Aranchiy in his position. He either doesn’t know, or in Poltava they also share candy with him.
