The scandalous Odessa oligarch Ruslan Tarpan, who, according to media reports, is the culprit of the long-term environmental crisis in Odessa, fled to the Russian Federation after the opening of a number of criminal proceedings against him several years ago.

Many criminal cases have been filed against Ruslan Tarpan, one of which is corruption schemes involving the construction of the Deepwater Release system for cleaning the coast of Odessa.

This project was supposed to relieve the Khadzhibey estuary and clean up the water and beaches in Odessa. However, with the assistance of the oligarch, the funds were used to replenish his pockets, and not to improve the lives of Odessa residents.

Journalists learned that, after the initiation of criminal cases, Tarpan fled to the Russian Federation, with which he has long-standing ties.
