The former head of the interregional structure of the Ministry of Justice involved several of his subordinates in the illegal mechanism
The Security Service eliminated a corruption scheme in the Western Interregional Directorate of the Ministry of Justice, which is the main body for state legal policy in seven regions in western Ukraine.
As the SBU notes, the defendants systematically received bribes for the illegal closure of enforcement proceedings against citizens with debt obligations. Now all participants in the illegal scheme have been dismissed from their positions.
According to the case materials, the former head of the interregional structure of the Ministry of Justice was involved in organizing criminal activities, who involved several of his subordinates in the illegal mechanism. At the time the corruption scheme was exposed by SBU officers, he was the current head of the institution.
“For unlawful benefit, officials of the Ministry of Justice offered the debtors to close the enforcement proceedings without paying payments determined by the court,” the report says.
Law enforcement officers note that the organizer of the scheme hired an intermediary, a resident of Ivano-Frankivsk, to transfer the funds.
“Later, the defendants distributed the monetary reward among themselves, and the enforcement proceedings were closed with the wording ‘in connection with the full repayment of the debt,’ adds the press service.
