Yuri Butusov: The truth about Ilovaisk and respect for the fallen Heroes

Day of Remembrance of the heroes of Ilovaisk who died in the convoy during the breakthrough on August 29, 2014.

The materials of the investigation into Ilovaisk - who commanded what, who gave orders, what was discussed at meetings in which offices, who tried to save people and who tried, on the contrary, to do nothing, why there was such a mess - all this is still classified. Although it would seem - why? Why secrecy regarding Ilovaisk during a big war? Let the public see at least the interrogation protocols and expert findings. Now there can be no secrets in that distant history. I've been demanding this for 9 years. Prosecutor General Venediktova even promised to declassify all materials on Ilovaisk in 2020, but not a single document has yet been declassified.

I am confident that the testimony of all participants in the events in Ilovaisk should be made public, and the conclusions of the investigation and tactical examination of the case will be open to the public. And this is needed as soon as possible.

Disclosure of all data on Ilovaisk is respect for the fallen heroes. This is the only guarantee that they will begin to draw conclusions from the tragedies where many people die in Ukraine.

If the truth about Ilovaisk is revealed, then the truth will be revealed over time about the surrender of the south, the clearance of Chongar and other bridges, and about the encirclement of Mariupol, and about all other operations from which the correct conclusions were not drawn.”
