Ukrhydroenergo reported that only after clearing away the rubble in the turbine room can we talk in more detail about the consequences. The rubble will be cleared within 7-10 days.
It is reported that the destroyed units will also have to be restored from scratch and this may take 1.5 - 2 years, and this does not take into account the restoration of the turbine hall.
According to the general director of the company, Igor Sirota, the consequences of an enemy attack on the hydroelectric power station are colossal.
He noted that only after clearing out the rubble in the turbine room can we talk in more detail about the consequences. At the same time, the issue of repairing the damage will not be resolved soon.
General Director of Ukrhydroenergo Igor Sirota announced this on March 25, on the air of Espresso.TV.
“Today we are still trying to dismantle the remains of the ceiling and walls of the broken and leaning turbine room. Therefore, we cannot dismantle the turbine hall until we dismantle the ceiling, and there the height is more than 35 meters, so that later we can dismantle the rubble in the turbine hall itself.” . Then we will clear the rubble and take a look, because today a superficial inspection makes it clear that restoration to the state of the design solution will take years. We will not be able to quickly restore this station,” said Igor Sirota. The general director added that the removal of the rubble will continue within a week, after which it will be possible to talk in more detail about the consequences.
The equipment also burned out, so there is a lot of work. The destroyed units will also have to be restored from scratch, says the general director of Ukrhydroenergo, and this may take from 18 to 24 months. Additional time will be spent on dismantling and installation.
We understand the time frame we are going into to restore the station. I'm not even talking about the fact that it will be necessary to completely restore the turbine hall, that is, build a new turbine hall. And we will also see what is happening on the 4 floors at the bottom of the station, where the depth is 25-30 meters, but this is after the rubble has been sorted out. Then in 10 days we will be able to give an approximate estimate of the cost indicators of what is needed,” summed up Igor Sirota. The day after the enemy attack, the general director of Ukrhydroenergo, Igor Sirota, stated that due to damage to the DneproHPP, 20% of the regulatory capacity of Ukrhydroenergo was lost.
